In Tatjana Bergius’ paintings and drawings, history and memory blend with her personal everyday experiences creating highly atmospheric, associative textures of images with narrative character. In their serial, diary-style execution, her work takes on an almost installative quality. Especially her stark yet ambiguous black and white works, often reminiscent of film stills, seem to create a dense, map-like recording of the many facets of the human condition.
